Before he was Daniel Boone, he was Peter Charles Green — a Birmingham singer who'd played in a band called the Beachcombers and recorded as “Peter Lee Stirling.” In 1971 he took the stage name Daniel Boone.
His ballad “Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast” reached the UK top 20, but it was “Beautiful Sunday” (1972), co-written with Rod McQueen, that made him a global one-hit wonder — No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and more than two million copies sold. It's still a radio and feel-good-playlist staple.
